Crossing the border: Bodiam Castle

With not a lot planned and a limited amount of money, my friend Sam and I decided to pack some tinnies and go for a walk. Starting at the quaint and beautiful Sandhurst church, we followed an old guide book found in Sam's garage and headed for Bodiam Castle.

The track we followed took us through winding vineyards and across teeny foot bridges.

After a couple of hours we arrived at the castle. Entrance to the castle is £9.30 per adult. Inside you can climb the towers and enjoy views spanning across the Weald. If you're low on cash, however, I think admiring the spectacular moated building from the outside, while sharing your picnic with the nosy ducks is good enough.

Post picnic, we continued on our adventure with the intention of looping back toward the church. Maybe our map was a little dated, or perhaps the tinnies had gone to our head... But somehow we landed ourselves in the center of a field with a bull, who once spotted us, charged in our direction.

Narrowly escaping death (I'm kidding) we thought best to retrace our steps.

I'd strongly advise this beautiful nature walk, however, I'd even more strongly recommend you find a more up-to-date map than the old book we followed.
